Joshua Gert ist Leslie & Naomi Legum Distinguished Professor für Philosophie am William & Mary College in Williamsburg.
Joshua Gert promovierte an der Universität von Illinois in Chicago. Er ist der Autor von Brute Rationality: Normativity and Human Action (Cambridge, 2004), Normative Bedrock: Response-dependence, Rationality and Reasons (Oxford, 2012), und Primitive Colors: A Case Study in Neopragmatist Metaphysics and Philosophy of Perception (Oxford, 2017), sowie als Herausgeber von Neopragmatism: Interventions in First-order Philosophy (Oxford, 2023). Er hat Artikel über Rationalität und Gründe und über Farbe unter anderem in Ethics, The Journal of Philosophy, The Philosophical Review, Noûs, Philosophy and Phenomenological Research und The Australasian Journal of Philosophy veröffentlicht.
Joshua Gert ist Mitglied der CAS Research Group The Ontogeny of Normativity von Prof. Dr. Markus Paulus und wird im Mai und Juni 2025 als Visiting Fellow in München sein.
